About Us
"Be your own potential"

Our Story
When Teresa founded Full Potential Personal Training, her vision was clear: create a space that felt exclusive yet was accessible to anyone who needed it. She wanted to build a place where individuals could unlock their full potential - physically, mentally and emotionally. In those early years, Teresa focused on personalized training, rehabilitation, medical fitness, and a select group of classes that aligned with her commitment to helping clients achieve their best selves.

Fast forward to today: after eight years of growth and success, Kerri has taken the reins and expanded the offerings. Full Potential is now expanding services to provide diverse fitness classes, wellness education and resources designed to help people of all ages and backgrounds reach their full potential in every aspect of life.

We believe that fitness and health look different for everyone. And that journey is unique for each individual. What remains constant, though, is the power of community. It's the support of others that turns your dreams of transformation to real, tangible success. Here, we don't just want you to dream of your potential - we want you to live it!
Meet The Team

Kerri Wood
Owner & Instructor

Kerri has been a dancer for more than 30 years. She danced competitively for a local studio until she was 18 and has since taught at a recreation center and has been the instructor at another local gym for the past 7 years. Her focus for the kids was teaching them that dance could be fun and structured. There she also worked on creating a high cardio "ballet" class for adults because dancing should never be something you stop. Like many women, she faced the harsh realization of what your body can go through as she got older and became passionate about eating clean for her body and bringing that lifestyle into her home. She is excited to be able to continue Teresa's dream and merge it with her own passions for this community.
She is a graduate of Old Dominion University and a lifelong resident of Portsmouth.

She enjoys running, anything summertime, cooking and spending time with her husband, kids, friends and family.

Andrew Contreras
Bootcamp Instructor
Andrew joins us from the Navy where he has served for the last 10 years. While his regular "job" does not involve fitness, he has moved into being an integral part of the fitness program at his command due to his dedication to the Navy's fitness program since he enlisted. His highlights include leading the Fitness Enhancement Program, conducting the Physical Readiness Test and (most recently) being put in charge of developing a program for those in his command that do not pass their Fit Test. This extensive knowledge is going to be something he leans on to help us build a program to not only take adults to the next level of fitness, but it will help him in working to implement a program that will be available to teens looking to enlist and not be rocked as hard by the "challenges" of bootcamp. With that, he will use his own motivation and competitive nature to help push others to their limits.

In his free time, he enjoys weight training and playing sports. His biggest sport passion would be golf. He also enjoys the time he gets to spend with his kids.

Tricia Richardson
Certified Yoga Instructor

I was born and raised in San Francisco California and left the West Coast when I joined the Navy in 1980. Twenty years (and many miles) later I retired as a Chief Independent Duty Corpsman. I continued to serve Military Medicine as a Civil Servant at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth; retired a second time in 2015. Most recently I worked as Medical Administrator for a Chesapeake based Ophthalmologist.
With a work life so full of duty, my goal in retirement was to pursue all of the interests I’d tabled for “later”. I live in Historic Port Norfolk in a beautiful Victorian home, and I’ve filled my days with those things I’d not previously had time to do – namely, discovering mindfulness, meditation and yoga. My dogs are my Zen, so we take lengthy daily walks.
I completed my basic 200-hour Yoga Instructor training with Zenya Yoga Academy in May of 2023 and began teaching yoga at the Beazley Senior Center, the YMCA and the Zenya Yoga Studio of Portsmouth.
I’m currently completing my 300-hour yoga instructor certification with the Integral Yoga Institute of San Francisco. I’ve added certification in Raja Yoga and am completing Meditation Teacher Training.
